About Our Awards
Over the past eight years, with the support of generous donors, including the more than 400 local and international volunteers who have contributed upwards of 40,000 hours to date, HavServe has remained committed to working with local communities to create a viable future for children and youth in Haiti and Montgomery County, Maryland. As is the case with all of HavServe’s work, the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Fundraiser is a completely volunteer-run event.
JOIN us as we celebrate individuals from both the private and public sectors who are making real and lasting change in our communities in order that every child has the opportunity and support to fulfill his or her potential.
The HavIT Award: This annual award is bestowed upon distinguished individuals who through their actions, demonstrate the understanding that if you “have,” you serve: if you have time, you serve; if you have compassion, you serve; if you have resources, you serve; and if you have knowledge, you serve.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes United States citizens and permanent residents who have achieved a requisite number of hours of volunteer service over a 12-month period or cumulatively, over a lifetime. As a Certifying Organizations for this award, HavServe provides this recognition annually to those volunteers that most strongly resonates with our mission and earned the required hours of service. (Bronze, Silver and Gold Packages include: Customized certificate, Choice of pin, coin, or medallion, Letter from the President of the United States of America).
The HavServe Volunteer Certificate of Service: The HavServe Volunteer Certificate of Service is bestowed upon outstanding individuals who helped HavServe address the most pressing needs of children and youth in our communities, especially in Haiti, during the past year.
Certificate issued by United Nations Online Volunteer Program: As a Certifying Organization for this program, HavServe recognizes volunteers who contribute many hours of remote, online assistance that advances our goals.
Thank you for your devotion to service and for doing all that you can to shape a better tomorrow for our children and youth.
HavServe is a non-profit organization that is led by an international network of volunteers who promote educational and social development of youth in Haiti and in the D.C. metro area. In Maryland, through the HavServe Youth Mentoring Program, we work with youth from primarily new American families to provide training; support for successful transition and community integration; leadership development and volunteer opportunities that build self-esteem, resilience, and that foster social and civic responsibility. In Haiti, we partner with small, under-resourced rural communities in the southwest of the country to create conditions that support basic education, and that implement sustainable social and economic development solutions to address the needs of children and their families.
Our vision is that through the power of volunteerism and community-led or supported program activities, community members will be inspired, motivated and equipped to act on their own behalf to improve their lives and those of their children and families. The name “HavServe” comes from the understanding that if you have, you serve. If you have time and talent, you serve. If you have compassion, you serve. If you have resources, you serve. If you have knowledge, you serve.Gala Host Committee
